Intimate Fort Edmonton Park Wedding | Ashley + Grant

THE COUPLE

Ashley and Grant met at a music festival called the North Country Fair through mutual friends.  It is such a magical festival that brings people together from all over.  It was a place that allowed them to get to know each other and fall in love around music, friends and campfires.  Grant proposed to Ashley at one of their favourite spots, The Overlander Lodge just outside of Hinton.

 THE INSPIRATION

Grant and Ashley absolutely love old things and have a great collection of antiques and vintage pieces in their home.  As soon as they saw Fort Edmonton Park it instantly felt like the perfect place for them to hold their wedding.  They felt like it was a getaway to a different time and space while still remaining in their own city and close to home.  Ashley and Grant wanted to make sure they incorporated pieces of their heritage into their special day.  They had Ukrainian musicians, a fiddle and accordion players as well as other special touches.  Things like Ashley’s grandmothers cross into her wedding bouquet, an heirloom that Ashley’s aunts and cousins have worn as well.

Ashley wanted to have the main aspect of their decor to be flowers, most of which were done DIY.  It was definitely a team effort with all family members helping to put together the table centrepieces and other arrangements.  This was a great memory as they all had such a great time working and putting them together.  In keeping with their love of all things vintage they also scoured thrift and vintage stores to collect transparent coloured glass vases and candle holders as well as other colourful glass items to portray a stained glass look into the room.  A great atmosphere was created in the Clerk’s Quarters space because the filtered lighting that entered the space. The couple wanted lots of candle light and reflection off of all the glass pieces and they absolutely achieved this beautiful look.

It was such an honour capturing their love with all of their closest friends and family together.  I hope you enjoy the images of this beautiful small intimate wedding.
